Welcome to the website of Worthing Town Youth FC.

LATEST NEWS

BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION IN THE COMMUNITY

Please note that the club will take players from seven years old (school year 3).  For players who are 5 or 6 years old, or who would like to train without playing in a team, the club recommends the Brighton & Hove Albion FC Football in the Community Saturday morning Soccer School as the ideal starting point for young players.  The Soccer School takes place on Saturday mornings from 9am to 10:30am at Chatsmore School. If you are interested in this, please contact Ian Hickley-Smith on 07815 145779.

UPDATE ON NEW PLAYERS REQUIRED FOR 2008-2009

Players will be required for next season in the following age groups.  Please note that these represent the areas in which we believe we will need the most players.  If you are in a different age group, we may still have spaces for the new season so its still worth contacting us and seeing what we can do for you!

MIXED TEAMS

Under 8 (school year 3) - for boys and girls born between 1st September 2000 and 31st August 2001 - The club hopes to expand from two to three teams in this age group. Training will be at the Soccer School on Saturday mornings.

Under 9 (school year 4) - for boys and girls born between 1st September 1999 and 31st August 2000 - The club will be expanding from two to four teams in this age group. Training will be at the Soccer School on Saturday mornings.

Under 10 (school year 5) - for boys and girls born between 1st September 1998 and 31st August 1999 - The club will be expanding this year group from two to three teams.  Training will be at the Soccer School on Saturday mornings.

Under 13 (school year 8) - for boys between 1st September 1995 and 31st August 1996 - The club requires additional players in its "A" or "Selection" Team.  This season, the team played in the B Division of the Arun & Chichester Youth Football League, finishing third and only missing out on promotion by a single point. Training will be at the Glynn Owen Centre, South Farm Road on Saturday mornings.

GIRLS ONLY TEAMS

Under 8/Under 9 (school years 3 and 4) - for girls born between 1st September 1999 and 31st August 2001 - The club is looking for players to join its Girls Development Squad.  This is a training only squad which is looking to introduce girls to playing football in preparation for joining one of our girls teams.  Training sessions take place on Wednesday evenings at the Glynn Owen Centre, South Farm Road between 6pm and 7pm.

Under 10/Under 11 (school years 5 and 6) - for girls born between 1st September 1997 and 31st August 1999 - The club is looking for new players to supplement existing players from our Development Squad and to create a new Under 11 Girls team.  Due to the two year age banding in girls football, this opportunity is open to both Under 10 and Under 11 players.  Training will take place on Wednesday evenings at the Glynn Owen Centre, South Farm Road between 6.30pm and 7.30pm.

Under 11/Under 12 (school years 6 and 7) - for girls born between 1st September 1996 and 31st August 1998 - The club is looking for additional players to play Under 12 football next season.  Due to the two year age banding in girls football, this opportunity is open to both Under 11 and Under 12 players.  Training will take place on Wednesday evenings at the Glynn Owen Centre, South Farm Road between 6.30pm and 7.30pm.

Under 15/Under 16 (school years 10 and 11) - for girls born between 1st September 1992 and 31st August 1994 - The club needs additional players to join next years Under 16 team. Due to the two year age banding in girls football, this opportunity is open to both Under 15 and Under 16 players.  Training will take place on Wednesday evenings at the Glynn Owen Centre, South Farm Road between 7.00pm and 8.00pm.

If you are interested in joining the club, please go to the "Contact Us" link to the left and email the club with your details.

ARUN & CHICHESTER YOUTH FOOTBALL LEAGUE FAIR PLAY AWARDS ANNOUNCED

WTYFC. teams featured prominently in this years fair play awards presented by the ACYFL. Each week, teams are required to grade their opponents players, supporters and officials.  There were nine age groups from U9 to U18 and Worthing Town were the only club to win in more than one age group.  Many congratulations therefore to Emma Sleep's U10C team and Tony Franklin and Kevin Golds U13B team for both winning their age groups.

Congratulations should also go to Geoff Slater's U14C team for finishing second in their group and to Pete Tilbey's U9B team for finishing 3rd in theirs.

As a club that actively promotes good behaviour and sportsmanship, we are very proud of the achievements of each of these teams.

PRESENTATION NIGHT

Presentation Night 2008 took place on Friday 9th May at the Assembly Rooms, Worthing.  Every player in the club received a loyalty award for participation during the season and additional team and achievement awards were also given out.  Full details on winners can be found by following the Presentation Night link on the left-hand side of this page.

The evening was also special because Keveena Mosen of the Sussex County FA presented the FA Charter Standard Community Club Award to the club.

"BIG KIDS" TOURNAMENT

On 26th April, the club held it's first ever "Big Kids" tournament.  This was an adult 6 a side event which is open to youth team parents/coaches etc.  A grand total of 9 teams entered the inaugural event which was held at The Glyn Owen Centre and was sponsored by NSURE

This event forms part of the club's strategy to increase participation in the game.  The vast majority of the players either play no football at all or only attend the clubs Monday evening adult "pick up" sessions.

"Lady Luck" smiled on us with the weather and there was a great family atmosphere with a good turn out of youth players who enjoyed turning the table son their dads for the day.

Eventually, the event was won by Sam Faro's team (pictured right) consisting of (from back left to right), Lewis Chidwick, Nigel Lamb, Paul Cotton, Keith , Mark Slide, (front) Jez Coates, Sam Faro and Mark Ramshaw.

In total the event raised £350 towards the club development fund.

LADIES FOOTBALL AT WTYFC

Ladies football has arrived at Worthing Town Youth FC!  This season, for the first time ever, the club is running an adult side.  Largely made up of players from last years Under 16 Girls, Team Manager Ian Hill has managed to add some experienced players in centre forward, Birgit Eggert, ex-Estonian International Maarja Vinkel  plus ex-Arsenal player Pam Chandler.

On Sunday 16th September, the Ladies made their competitive debut against Rottingdean Village Ladies II in Division 2 of the Sussex County Women & Girls Football League.  Despite the more experienced players being unavailable for the match, the team recorded an exceptional 4-0 victory with goals by Rachel Burden, Amy Priest, Stephanie Coombs, and Christina Dowling.  Roger Oakley, local Worthing Councillor presented a 'Player of the Match' award to Amy Priest for an outstanding performance.

The match was also attended by the team sponsor, local pharmacist Val Turner of Turner Pharmacy,

If there are any Ladies who would be interested in playing, please contact the club using the link to the left
